Help

We've had designs scrawled on the back of an envelope, lovingly sketched on a draftsman's pad, knocked up in Microsoft Paint or meticulously created in Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand.

They've all made great kit, but we've had to spend time converting most of them into the right format for our machines. If we have to spend too long, we'll have to make a charge for our work, so you can save money by getting your design to us in the right format. If we do charge you, we'll happily send you a copy of the file to use again.

If this is all gobbledygook to you, just call us to talk it through. If you're a mouse-wielding, fontophile graphic designer, you can skip to the juicy details.

Single colour design
Single colour design

Single colour designs are easiest for us, so we don't always have to charge for artworking. We prefer them digitally as high-resolution JPEG, PDF, EPS and AI files. If your design's simple, we can often work with lower resolution JPEG or GIF files as well. If you send us paper-based artwork, we might have to charge you unless it's clear and crisp enough to scan properly.

Multi-colour design

We can work from any format, but if you want to keep costs down we'll need something quite specific. Ideally, we'd like artwork in a vector format so we can separate colours, which means AI, PDF or EPS files. More details

Embroidery
Embroidery

Embroidery always needs setup time (unless it's just text or numbers in a standard font), so we'll charge you a setup fee. You can reduce the fee, though, by sending us a vector file in AI, PDF or EPS format instead of a sketch on the back of a beer mat. More details

Technical details

We need vector details, and we prefer it if you've created them in Adobe Illustrator - we use version 10. We're happy with AI, PDF or EPS file formats. You'll need to make sure that no lines are thinner than 0.25, or we can't print them. You only use solid colours, without gradients, shadows and tints. You convert your text to outlines, because matching fonts takes ages.
